Yuan serves as the University Scholarly Communication Officer and Director of Open Scholarship and Research Data Services (OSRDS) at Harvard Library. In this role, she leads a dynamic and forward-thinking team dedicated to making Harvard’s research widely available and accessible, encompassing both research data and scholarly publications. Under her guidance, OSRDS plays a pivotal role in coordinating and advising on the implementation of open-access policies adopted by faculty across all Harvard schools.
Her team is also at the forefront of exploring and implementing innovative models for scholarly publishing, advancing a more open and equitable scholarly communication ecosystem. Additionally, Yuan and her team actively advocate for best practices in research data management and provide essential support to the Harvard research community in data sharing and curation.
Prior to her role at Harvard, Yuan Li served as the Scholarly Communications Librarian at Princeton University Library, where she led pioneering initiatives in scholarly communication innovation and reform. She also held similar positions at Syracuse University Library and was a Digital Repository Resident at UMass Amherst. She holds a master’s degree in Library and Information Studies from the University of Rhode Island, a master’s degree in Computer Science from the National Computer System Engineering Research Institute of China, and a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from Yanshan University in Qinhuangdao, China. Currently, Yuan is pursuing a PhD in Organizational Leadership in Higher Education at Liberty University.
